I’ve worked with multiple families back in the USA. The three families I worked with most consistently gave me extensive experience caring for children of different ages and in different family settings. Family 1 – 1 child One family had a baby girl, and I helped care for her from the age of six months until she was five years old. I lived with the family and became a part of their family. They were a family of three and also had a dog. Some of my responsibilities included keeping the child entertained, playing with her, preparing dinner, getting her ready for bed, reading bedtime stories, doing lots of arts and crafts, and putting her to bed. Family 2 – 2 children Another family had two children. I cared for them from when they were toddlers until they entered middle school. My responsibilities included taking them to and from school, preparing breakfast, helping them with their homework after school, taking them to the gym and other practices, making sure they were ready for bed, and ensuring that their homework was completed. Sometimes, I would stay with the family overnight until the morning, when I would get the children ready and take them to school. Family 3 – Single mother with 1 daughter The last family I worked with was a single mother with one daughter. I would get her ready for school, take her to school, and pick her up afterward. I prepared and served breakfast and dinner, packed her lunch for school, and helped her with homework. I also took her to ballet and dance practices. We spent a lot of time outdoors, including trips to the park and picnics. I really love picnics! 😊 I also helped her with summer reading and created my own reading program specifically for her to help encourage her reading skills and keep her engaged during the summer. In addition to these longer-term families, I have also helped multiple families as a date-night babysitter and provided childcare on an as-needed basis.
